1. Dress appropriately for the situation in which you will be involved for most of the day.
Some standard indications can be:
A) Business suit for meetings with customers
B) Casual Business for the office.
2. Dress so you feel comfortable and fit the situation, always.
This means nothing too tight, too short or too transparent. And comfortable shoes!
When you do not feel comfortable even your boss, your client or your employees perceive it.
3. Dress appropriately for age and role.
It is even more important to create a powerfull image that, in the practical sense, means not to opt for fringes, rouches, pastel colors that are too light, too many worn jewels or accessories that are too showy and colorful.
4. Always keep it clean
Always make sure your clothes, as well as your shoes and accessories, are clean.
Trousers or skirts with “accidental” stains convey a message of “non-cure”. Jackets or shirts with ink stains, even small ones, convey a distracting message.
5. Details make the difference!
For the people around you, for the people who buy your services or for the customers that come into your company, the details are very important!
An image taken care of leads your interlocutor to associate with you the idea of attention to detail even in the workplace.
6. Do not be afraid to have fun with your clothes to create a distinctive image
Your personality is very important in the business and your clothes talk about you long before you do it!
Donald Trump has his distinctive look in wearing big ties;
Hilary Clinton always wears trousers and chokers.
Be careful not to overdo it though…
7. Look at yourself in the mirror before leaving home
